After a very long year and a half live music is back and it was well worth the wait!
The show opener Mike Love was returning to Levitt Pavilion after a rained out show in June.
Their loss was our gain! Unlike the last show, umbrellas were not needed, the weather was perfect! Mike Love came out ready to impress with his Hawaiian reggae style. One of his first live performances was actually in Colorado and he is always happy to return!
When Island Stage asked me to shoot this show I was unfamiliar with Thievery Corporation, being a fan of Mike Love I was happy to shoot, but didn’t plan on staying for Thievery’s entire set. My plan was to get out and leave early and spare myself the traffic jam at the end.
When Thievery Corporation came out and worked their magic I was dazzled! The rotating lead singers, singing different genres in different languages makes you feel like you are at multiple shows, but somehow all cohesively move together, with messages of strength and compassion. The stage show is a photographers dream and I fell in love, struggling to figure out who to shoot.
Needless to stay I didn’t beat the traffic jam and left with a smile on my face and Thievery Corporation T-shirt. I will see you all at the December Thievery show!
