Fyakin 'Warrior Ways'- Island Stage Magazine

March 11, Miami, FL–“Warrior Ways,” the blazing new single from conscious reggae singer Fyakin,  will be released on Friday, March 11. Produced by Fyakin on his Nyle Banks Music label, “Warrior Ways” is a militant track that showcases the rising young artist’s ebullient, melodic tenor and deft songwriting skills. “Warrior Ways” will be distributed through Zojak World Wide.

The upbeat “Warrior Ways” deals with themes of repatriation, self-determination and trodding through the Babylon “shitstem” of institutionalized racism and economic downpression. A multi-talented musicians, Fyakin plays the drum, bass, hi hat, snare, keyboards  on “Warrior Ways,” accompanied by guitarist Loyd “Cookie” Willacy.

“True Kunta blood inna mi vein, me have warrior ways,” sings Fyakin, referring to the rebellious enslaved protagonist in Alex Haley’s “Roots.”  “Man a real rebel from morning.”

“The lion yah nah sell out fi cash nah check. Upful livin’ a the rebel concept.”

Fyakin, whose influences include Burning Spear, I Wayne and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, was born in Kingston, JA in 1988. Fyakin, aka Nicholas Levy, derived his moniker from the Yoruba name Akin, which means “valor awakes.”  Fyakin released his debut single, “They Don’t Know,” in 2005. A favorite on the local music scene, began to create a buzz by performing at events such as Sizzla’s birthday bash, Sting, East Fest and Island Explosion to name a few.  During the summer of 2015, Fyakin released his acclaimed full-length album, “Child of the Nile” on Nyle Banks Music.

Fyakin, who is also a devoted father and former professional soccer player, describes his music as soulful, uplifting, cultured and truthful.

“You can expect a passionate performance and you might see me playing some congo drums here and there; maybe a little keyboards,” said Fyakin, who is also preparing for an international tour. “You never know what can happen. Expect the unexpected when it comes to me. I keep growing and finding new talents each day.”
